Introducing the Clinical Insights Pilot Program
Recruitment for EMPHN’s Clinical Insights Pilot Program has now ended. Practices can
still submit an expression of interest for the next phase.

What is Clinical Insights?
Clinical Insights is a program which feeds back clinical performance data to GPs for reflection and improvement purposes. GPs will receive a condition-specific Clinical Insights report that compare GP’s own practice data from POLAR with latest evidence-based guidelines and GP peer performance data.
We have co-designed Clinical Insights reports with academics from Monash University and local GPs for two topics during the Pilot phase:
- Secondary cardiovascular disease prevention post stroke/transient ischaemic attack (TIA)
- Chronic kidney disease screening (CKD)
How does it work?
Clinical Insights reports will focus on topics of regional and national priority, identified with clinicians in the EMPHN catchment. Evidence-based guidelines and data on GP peer performance is used to provide insights on opportunities for improvement.
GPs can then use these insights for learning, CPD opportunities and continuous improvement over time.

Why participate?
- Clinical Insights is a mini-audit activity and GPs can record Measuring Outcomes and Reviewing Performance CPD hours
- GPs can save time spent on data collection by identifying patients that meet the clinical topic
- GPs can compare their own practice against best practice standards and performance of their peers
- GPs can optimise patient outcomes by identifying practice improvement areas and planning actions
